Five more Trinidad and Tobago citizens have been deported from the United States, a statement by the US Embassy in Port-of-Spain said on Friday.

The statement said that embassy personnel collaborated closely with T&T partners to facilitate the arrival of a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation charter flight at Piarco International Airport.

The three male and two female Trinbagonian deportees, ranging in age from 19 to 57, and all with significant criminal records, were processed by T&T Customs and Immigration and police on arrival.

One of the deportees, previously deported from the US, had an outstanding warrant in T&T for robbery.

Representatives from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Service and the NGO Vision on Mission were also present to provide essential services to those in need of assistance.

"The US embassy recognises the valuable assistance of Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation, Trinidad and Tobago Customs and Immigration, TT Airport Authority, and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service for their roles in facilitating the arrival of the charter flight and receipt and processing of the deportees." the statement said.

US Chargé d’Affaires Dr. Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz said, “This latest cooperative effort highlights the close working relationship between our nations, our law enforcement professionals, and all levels of government in facilitating a top U.S. administration priority to ensure secure our borders.”
