The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to initiate, promote and support professional training and development of NWRHA’s staff. This MoU also seeks to facilitate independent and shared research opportunities and collaborations between both parties.
This significant milestone will further enhance healthcare delivery not only locally, but throughout the region. Anthony Blake, CEO of the NWRHA stated that this initiative will bridge the competency gaps which exist in the Authority, and ensure that professionals gain the skills and knowledge required to better deliver quality healthcare to their communities.
Similarly, through this agreement, UTT and NWRHA aim to enhance the content and delivery of UTT’s Health Sciences programmes by aligning efforts and resources, to empower future healthcare leaders.
Speaking on behalf of the University, UTT’s President, Professor Prakash Persad, mentioned the possibility of eventually expanding the scope of this MoU, to work together to optimise various processes and procedures utilised by both institutions.
The University of Trinidad and Tobago says it looks forward to a successful and transformative partnership and commends the North West Regional Health Authority for its unwavering dedication to driving innovation to improve healthcare in our nation, and by extension, the region.
