The Police Service said yesterday officer are still searching for three teenaged Venezuelan girls who escaped quarantine from the University of the West Indies (UWI’s) Canada Hall on Tuesday.
Yesterday a video claiming to be of one of the girls was circulated on social media by Police Communications Manager Francis Joseph said the girls were not yet found.
The girl in the video was tied to a hospital bed with cloth restraints. She was crying and speaking in Spanish.
On Tuesday night, police issued a release asking the public for assistance in finding the three missing teens, who are believed to have jumped a fence at the UWI facility and escaped into a waiting vehicle.
The missing girls are aged 14, 15 and 17.
Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram said the girls were COVID-positive but unlikely to be able to infect anyone, given the amount of time they had spent in quarantine.
Parasram said all three girls were asymptomatic.
