Venezuelan teens still missing

The Po­lice Ser­vice said yes­ter­day of­fi­cer are still search­ing for three teenaged Venezue­lan girls who es­caped quar­an­tine from the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies (UWI’s) Cana­da Hall on Tues­day.

Yes­ter­day a video claim­ing to be of one of the girls was cir­cu­lat­ed on so­cial me­dia by Po­lice Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Man­ag­er Fran­cis Joseph said the girls were not yet found.

The girl in the video was tied to a hos­pi­tal bed with cloth re­straints. She was cry­ing and speak­ing in Span­ish.

On Tues­day night, po­lice is­sued a re­lease ask­ing the pub­lic for as­sis­tance in find­ing the three miss­ing teens, who are be­lieved to have jumped a fence at the UWI fa­cil­i­ty and es­caped in­to a wait­ing ve­hi­cle.

The miss­ing girls are aged 14, 15 and 17.

Speak­ing at a me­dia brief­ing on Wednes­day, Chief Med­ical Of­fi­cer Dr Roshan Paras­ram said the girls were COVID-pos­i­tive but un­like­ly to be able to in­fect any­one, giv­en the amount of time they had spent in quar­an­tine.

Paras­ram said all three girls were asymp­to­matic.
