As Local Government Election draws closer, candidates of UNC have been hitting the streets and corners in their respective areas to woo the votes of constituents.
Most of the candidates are confident that they will win their respective seats and take control of Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.
Nassar Hosein, candidate for Sangre Grande North West, the man who gave victory to the UNC in the last Local Government Election which ultimately gave them control of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation told Guardian Media that his support is overwhelming.
He said, “I have work during my last term in officer paving roads that were never paved, having drains cleared." However, he said it was unsuccessful in preventing flooding, which he had made several requests to have the river drenched, but received excuses one of them being that houses are to near the river bank.
Hosein, however, rebut the excuses offered to him by engineer and Minister of Work and Transport Rohan Sinanan as he clearly recalled that the river was drenched when Jack Warner was Minister of Works and flooding was not as it is presently.
Hosein has called for the continued support of people for the peaceful walks.
