The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty says its truck borne wa­ter ser­vice is free and the sale of wa­ter de­liv­ered through this ser­vice is “strict­ly pro­hib­it­ed”.

WASA is­sued a pub­lic no­tice on the mat­ter in light of many com­plaints made in the pub­lic do­main by per­sons claim­ing they are forced to pay ex­or­bi­tant sums for truck borne wa­ter.

“The Au­thor­i­ty’s wa­ter tankers and those con­tract­ed for use by WASA all bear a sign that clear­ly states that the truck borne wa­ter is FREE to cus­tomers,” the WASA no­tice states.

The com­pa­ny adds: “To be el­i­gi­ble for WASA’s truck borne wa­ter ser­vice, the cus­tomer’s ac­count must be paid up.”

WASA is en­cour­ag­ing cus­tomers to call its toll-free num­bers—800-4H2O (800-4420/4426)—to re­port all in­stances of per­sons of­fer­ing wa­ter for sale through its truck borne ser­vice or oth­er­wise.
