The Water and Sewerage Authority says its truck borne water service is free and the sale of water delivered through this service is “strictly prohibited”.
WASA issued a public notice on the matter in light of many complaints made in the public domain by persons claiming they are forced to pay exorbitant sums for truck borne water.
“The Authority’s water tankers and those contracted for use by WASA all bear a sign that clearly states that the truck borne water is FREE to customers,” the WASA notice states.
The company adds: “To be eligible for WASA’s truck borne water service, the customer’s account must be paid up.”
WASA is encouraging customers to call its toll-free numbers—800-4H2O (800-4420/4426)—to report all instances of persons offering water for sale through its truck borne service or otherwise.
In addition to calling its toll-free numbers, WASA customers can request a truck borne water supply via: the WASA Services App; the Customer Portal at www.wasa.gov.tt; or send messages to the WhatsApp number 709-7793.
