WASA has responded to the Guardian's article today, “Tableland residents happy for rain after weeks without water."
WASA says it acknowledges that it has experienced some challenges recently, with maintaining a consistent water supply to some customers in parts of the Tableland area.
It says Tableland is supplied by the Navet Water Treatment Plant via the Piparo Booster Station and one of the primary issues impacting the service to the area has been intermittent disruptions at the Piparo Booster Station, due to voltage fluctuations.
"This has been affecting the run-time of the pumps at the station, which has been negatively impacting the supply to customers particularly at the high points or extremities of the distribution system," WASA said.
"The Authority is currently in discussions with T&TEC, in order to achieve a permanent resolution to the problem. The Authority is closely monitoring the service to the area and as at Thursday 26th October, customers in lower parts of Mantacool Road, Local Road, Kissoon Avenue, North Trace and Williamsmith, were receiving a water supply, with the pressures expected to build to reach customers in the mid to high levels over the coming 24 to 48 hours.
