The Water and Sewerage Authority has said it will be carrying out pipeline interconnection works at the corner of Aripo Road and Eastern Main Road, Aripo, today and tomorrow, which will result in water supply interruptions and necessitate traffic diversions.
An advisory issued by the Authority says the work is being done in order to bring online the new Aripo Well #2.
“When completed, this will provide an additional 300,000 gallons of water per day into the Hollis transmission pipeline system, which will improve the reliability of supply to customers served by the Hollis Water Treatment Plant,” WASA explained.
However, while the work is being carried out, parts of North-East Trinidad served by the Hollis Water Treatment Plant will experience an interruption in the water supply from 6 pm on Wednesday to 6 am tomorrow.
Areas to be affected include:
■ Town of Arima (all areas South of Broadway inclusive of Lawrence Park)
■ O’Meara Road (from Churchill Roosevelt Highway to Sierra Vista Street)
■ Samaroo Village * Christina Gardens
■ Leotaud Lands * Darwill Gardens
■ Galaxy Gardens/Boys Lane * Mausica Road
■ La Resource * Time Haven Development
■ Bregon Park * Cleaver Road
■ Bon Air Gardens * Parts of Arouca
■ KP Lands, Valencia * Chickland, Wallerfield
WASA is reminding its customers that it may take up to 24 hours for the scheduled pipe borne water supply to normalise to some areas after the completion of these works.
WASA said a limited truck borne service will be available with priority to Health Institutions, Government Agencies and Homes for the Aged.
