West Indies wicket keeper Joshua Da Silva says the Caribbean team will try to replicate their strong performance in Australia from earlier this year in January.
West Indies lost the First Test in Adelaide before tying the series in Brisbane.
The Trinidadian wicket keeper is hoping for a better result in Nottingham, this week.
“All of us are pretty disappointed after the first test,” Da Silva told reporters. “So, we’ve put that behind us. We’ve had our discussions and we’re looking forward to the second one at Nottingham.”
“We’re putting in the work and doing everything we can with rebuilding, and we’re going hard forward into the next test,” he assured.
Da Silva was philosophical as he admitted the defeat did shake the Windies team’s confidence a little.
“Yes, it is disappointing, but that’s Test Cricket. It happens to the best teams in the world. It happened to England, Australia and India,” he pointed out. “How we’re [West Indies] going to bounce back is going to be most important.”
He acknowledges it won’t be easy.
“We need to do the right things—bat for long periods of time and take the wickets that we need to,” the Windies wicket keeper said.
“For us, Test Cricket is the number one currently for me especially, and I know for a lot of the other guys,” he said.
“West Indies back to winning ways, and West Indies winning consistently and having consistent performances is what the world wants to see,” he says, “and we definitely want to see it.”
