A male em­ploy­ee at­tached to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal was stabbed and in­jured by a woman known to him while at the fa­cil­i­ty this morn­ing.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that both in­di­vid­u­als had got­ten in­to a dis­pute which es­ca­lat­ed.

The man was sub­se­quent­ly stabbed in the arm.

Po­lice re­spond­ed to the alarm and the as­sailant was de­tained.

NWRHA Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer, An­tho­ny Blake was al­so at the scene af­ter staff mem­bers ex­pressed safe­ty con­cerns at the hos­pi­tal.

He con­firmed the mat­ter and as­sured that a state­ment would be is­sued soon.
