Inmates housed in the Women Prison recently received personal care hampers to help make their quality of life in the prison a little easier.
The 120 hampers were distributed by the Inner Wheel Club of Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday 14th September 2021.
The charitable organisation, which has existed for over thirty years, has played an important role in supporting the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service over the years. One of its major projects was the establishment of the library at the Youth Training Centre.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service indicates the relationship between the Club and the Prison was as strong as ever.
Commissioner of Prions Dennis Pulchan expressed his gratitude to the Club for its “noble gesture” and thanked them for their support, especially for the women, while Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Sherwin Bruce pointed to the importance of community support and relations toward creating better and reformed citizens. The Deputy Commissioner said he was optimistic that “collaborated efforts will continue, as we strive to uphold the Service’s mandate”.
Present at the distribution ceremony from the Prison Service were Commissioner Pulchan and Deputy Commissioner Bruce, as well as Superintendent of Prisons Noel Serrette, and Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Dennis Lorde. The Inner Wheel Club was represented by its President, Santi Jadoo, Imam Imtiaz Ali and other members of the charitable organization.
