The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the general public that there will be temporary traffic disruptions over the weekend as a result of scheduled roadworks.
Firstly, from 8 pm on Friday 6th December to 4 am on Monday 9th December, there will be a temporary closure of access to—and from—the Southern Main Road North (Curepe), at its intersection with the Churchill Roosevelt Highway (Curepe Interchange).
During this time, part of the Priority Bus Route will be open from its intersection with the Uriah Butler Highway (as the Mt Hope Intersection) to the Macoya Road Intersection.
Ministry officials indicate the intersection will be closed to all vehicular traffic; however, persons wishing to access the Valsayn Branch Road, or KFC / Pizza Hut / Subway may proceed in their usual direction.
The ministry advises that the closure is necessary to facilitate construction works associated with the Curepe Interchange Project.
There also will be a temporary Traffic Disruption over the weekend along the northbound and southbound lanes of the Uriah Butler Highway between 7 am and 7 pm.
However, the ministry assures that at least two lanes of traffic will remain open.
The following locations will be most affected:
• B 1/5 Uriah Butler Highway, 4.97km Mark, bridge right before the Caroni Flyover, southbound or bridge right after the Caroni Flyover (northbound)
• B 1/6 Uriah Butler Highway, 5.88km Mark; first bridge after the Caroni Flyover, southbound or bridge right before the Caroni Flyover (northbound)
• B 1/7 Uriah Butler Highway, 6.40km Mark; second bridge after the Caroni Flyover (southbound)
• B 1/9 Uriah Butler Highway, 8.19km Mark (southbound); the bridge in the vicinity of the recently closed American Stores
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution, and observe all directional signs, and comply with instructions from police officers on site to facilitate the flow of traffic in an orderly manner, at both locations.
