A 16-year-old resident at the Youth Training Centre in Arouca, who is in for murder, has threatened the lives of four prison officers.
The officers are all currently assigned to the centre located at Golden Grove.
The prisons officers are a 52-year-old acting prison supervisor originally from Tobago, a 49-year-old prison officer II of Ste Madeline, a 36-year-old prison officer I of Talparo and a 26-year-old prison officer I of Tunapuna.
According to a police report, at about 12.50 pm on Monday, the officers were on duty at the YTC, when they spoke to the teen about complying with the procedures of the organisation.
It is said he became annoyed and started making threats to the officers, saying “I drop real bodies already, anytime I get a machine (referring to a cell phone) I go call ah shot to kill all ah allyuh, and anybody living Tunapuna I go make sure my people kill allyuh”.
The officers subsequently made a report to the Prison’s administration and were advised to make an official report at the Arouca Police Station which they all did.
A probe is now underway.
