Trinidad and Tobago is the only country in the world which has turned its back on its own citizens during this copid 19 pandemic. No other country has sought to prevent its own citizens from entering the land of their birth.
The citizens’ right to live and die in their own country is a God given right apart from being a constitutional right and the Prime Minister has no divine or constitutional right to prevent a citizen from entering this country, covid or no covid.
The Prime Minister has no legal right to impose any restriction on citizens to prevent them from entering the country on any ground. That right is protected by the Immigration Act and the Constitution and the Prime Minister has no authority to take it away from them. To require them to get an exemption to enter is illegal, dictatorial, ridiculous and wicked.
To use the covid pandemic as the excuse to prevent them from entering by wanting to safeguard the health of the citizens who are in Trinidad and Tobago is very selfish, cruel and devious. It is also absolutely illegal.
They are entitled to the protection of our law and equal treatment under the law.
Why is the Prime Minister palming off his responsibility as the protector of our citizens abroad to other countries? He has a legal and moral duty to ensure the safety of every citizen especially those who are crying out to return home and if it be God’s will, to die at home. Why is the Prime Minister so cold and callous not to hear the voices of those who are desperate?
Doesn’t the Prime Minister know that Trinidad and Tobago has become the laughing stock of the world under his governance? His behaviour will certainly affect this country. Reasonable minded people might not want to come to a country like this with such a leader. He is no doubt spoiling the name of our country.
