93 Unltd, SSS Emeralds dominate Tobago Netball

93 Unltd and Scar­bor­ough Sec­ondary Schools' (SSS) Emer­alds re­main un­beat­en af­ter the ninth day of ac­tion in the To­ba­go Net­ball League at the Shaw Park Hard Court on Sat­ur­day.

The star-stud­ded 93 Untld squad dis­missed all op­po­nents in the Open Di­vi­sion with com­mand­ing wins over Knick­ers Ravens (54-19), Net Ace (73-6) and Shock­erz (57-15). 93 Unltd al­so re­sist­ed Net­ters 31-27.

The vic­to­ri­ous team in­cludes sev­er­al cur­rent and past na­tion­al play­ers. Lead­ing the line­up is for­mer na­tion­al de­fend­er and na­tion­al coach, Kem­ba Dun­can, this year's World Se­nior Cham­pi­onships rep­re­sen­ta­tives Oprah Dou­glas and Jerisia Mc Eachrane and 2019 World Cham­pi­onships play­er Ane­i­cia Bap­tiste, who is mak­ing a re­turn to the courts af­ter ma­ter­ni­ty leave.

Dun­can's daugh­ter, 13-year-old Khe­myah An­der­son and this year's Com­mon­wealth Youth Games cam­paign­er Ja­da Hamil­ton are al­so in the squad. An­der­son led Bish­ops High to re­tain the Sec­ondary Schools girls' 13 and Un­der na­tion­al ti­tle in Point Fortin, last month. An­der­son was al­so vot­ed the Most Valu­able Play­er. Hamil­ton helped Sig­nal Hill Sec­ondary to the run­ner-up po­si­tion in the To­ba­go girls' 20 and Un­der Di­vi­sion.

SSS Emer­alds play­ers were equal­ly im­pres­sive in Group A of the Ju­nior cat­e­go­ry with four wins from as many match­es. Emer­alds de­feat­ed Net Ace (43-1), Knick­ers Or­chids (30-2), War­riors (39-3) and Net­ters (21-5). Net­ters are next with three vic­to­ries over War­riors (27-3), Net Ace (40-10) and Knick­ers Or­chids (10-5)

In Group B, Knick­ers Lily's are ahead with three wins. Lily's girls were vic­to­ri­ous over Dy­na­mites (18-11), Knick­ers Tulips (17-3) and SSS Sil­vers (15-10). SSS Sil­vers and Dy­na­mites record­ed two wins each.

Dy­na­mites got past SSS Ru­by (34-1) and SSS Sil­ver (16-11) while Sil­vers tri­umphed over Tulips (30-0) and SSS Ru­by (34-1).

Among the men, Po­lice is the lead­ing team af­ter get­ting past Fire (44-18) and Chaps (26-12) and Net­ters (30-20).

Ac­tion in the League con­tin­ues at the Shaw Park Hard Court to­day with four match­es. Net Ace faces Net­ters (Ju­niors-Group A), and Con­querors will square off against Knick­ers Ravens (Open).

In the Men's Di­vi­sion, Fire will play Knick­ers Chaps and Po­lice will line up against Take Dat.

The top two teams in each di­vi­sion at the com­ple­tion of the group play on De­cem­ber 9 will ad­vance to the Big Four knock-out phase.
