Ryan Ramlakhan contributed with both bat and ball as Allegiance secured a 17 runs win over defending champions Drifters in the major semifinal of the Over-45 Tyro Sports Club Ten Overs Per Side Windball Cricket League sponsored by Monteco Creations Limited on Saturday.
Batting first at the Gabba Ground, Bourg Mulatresse, Lower Santa Cruz, Allegiance posted 88 runs for the loss of five wickets with Ramlakhan hitting a top score of 24 runs from 26 balls while openers Dale Jaggessar chipped in with 18, and Damien Peters 12 respectively with Darren Modeste the pick of the Drifters bowlers with two wickets for 14 runs.
However, in their chase, Drifters was restricted to 71 runs for eight wickets with Gregory Webb and Marcus Wellintgton both scoring 17 runs while Ryan Valentine and Ramlakhan took one wicket each for three and eight runs respectively from two overs each to fall short of their target by 17 runs.
With the win, Allegiance secured a spot in teh tournament final, while Drifters will have a second bite at a chance to defend their crown when they meet
In Saturday's first quarterfinal, Savannah Boys thrashed Rene Unknown by 88 runs led by swash-buckling 71 runs from 37 balls from Colin Roberts, which included 11 fours and three sixes.
Damien Hanooman added 49 runs from 26 balls for Savannah Boys inclusive of three fours, and four sixes in their daunting total of 157 without loss before they limited Rene Unknown to 69 runs for six wickets with Robert Braithwaite snatching two wickets for 12 runs, and Perry Lezama two for 13.
On Monday, Anthax defeated Team Pro by six wickets to secure their spot in the minor semifinal against Savannah Boys.
Team Pro took first strike and posted 83 for four wickets in ten overs with Nigel Frame hammering 27 not out, and Dereck Singh 20 not out only for Anthrax to make a suucssful chase of the target and reach 87 for four wicnets in nine overs led by Ryan Baksh stroking his way to 19, while former national player and current coach Rayad Emrit made 18, and Sunil Boodansingh 17.
A day earlier in the Garfield Roberts Memorial ‘Best Of The Rest’ major semifinal, Bluffuzz defeated Club House by 13 runs and will meet the winners of the minor semifinal between Club House and the winner of the quarterfinal between Uprising and Culture.
