Anneliese Rose, undoubtedly one of T&T's most decorated women's tennis player, was honoured by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for her contribution and dedication to the sport.
She has represented T&T internationally with excellence on the ITF Junior tour, the ITF Pro tour and Fed Cup. Though based in the United States, Rose has had an illustrious junior career, achieving a career-high ITF Junior ranking of 159 in singles and 161 in doubles together, with multiple national junior championships.
Now 41, Rose has recently started the ITF professional tour and currently holds a ranking in the singles and doubles. Her greatest accomplishments, however, has been in the Fed Cup team tournaments where she has represented T&T 14 times, and in the process, she amassed a stellar record of 55 wins and 33 losses.
She holds all of the TTO records for Fed Cup and was even recognized by Fed Cup with a Commitment Award in 2017. The International Tennis Federation at it 2019 Annual General Meeting & Conference in Lisbon Portugal, recognized Rose with an “ITF Award for Service to the Game”.
Afterwards, Rose expressed her gratitude to the ITF for bestowing the award upon her, as well as to the Tennis Association of T&T for the support shown to her over the years.
According to Rose "Receiving this award really means a lot to me. I would like to thank the ITF for this award and the Tennis Association of T&T for their nomination. It has been a privilege to be able to represent my country over so many years and I’m honoured by this recognition. I’ve always been proud and fortunate to fly the National flag of T&T. It is and has been a great honour."
