Amari Ash of Blue Lightning Swim Club added her name to the list of record breakers on the final night of competition in the four-day Aquatic Sports Association of T&T (ASATT) National Open Short Course Championship at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva, on Sunday.
This after the 16-year-old topped her rivals in the 11 and Over girls' 100 metres Individual Medley in one minute and 08.47 seconds, to improve on her mark of one minute and 08.56 seconds. Second in the event was Blue Dolphins' Kiara Goodridge in one minute, 11.22 seconds while Atlantis Aquatics' Amelia Rajack took the third spot in one minute, 12.23 seconds.
Elsewhere, Blue Lightning's Zalayhar Lewis continued her dominance with four more wins on the night while her clubmate Aiden Nixon won three, and the trio of Goodridge, Darren Belfon, and Zachary Anthony, two each.
Lewis, ten, swam to victory in the ten and Under 200m individual medley in two minutes, 53.80 seconds; the 100m backstroke in one minute, 20.57 seconds; the 50m butterfly in 34.23 seconds, and the 50m freestyle in 30.83
Nixon captured the top spot in the ten and Under boys 100m backstroke in one minute, 19.97 seconds; the 50m butterfly in 34.10, and the 50m freestyle in 31.88.
Goodridge, 17, was a winner in the 11 and Over girls' 400m freestyle in four minutes, 36.06 seconds, and the 200m backstroke in two minutes, 31.39 seconds.
The 14-year-old Belfon won the 11 and Over boys' 400m freestyle in four minutes, 15.75 seconds, and the 200m backstroke in two minutes, 06.06 seconds
The 15-year-old Anthony won the 11 and Over boys' 50m freestyle in 23.33, and the 200m butterfly in two minutes, 09.31 seconds.
The other individual winners on Sunday were Olympian Cherelle Thompson, Rajack, Sydney Look Fong, Josiah Changar, Micah Alexander and Riquelio Joseph.
The quartet of Joseph, Keryn Burke, Rajack and Malick Nelson led Atlantis to the 11 and Over mixed freestyle relay in one minute, 43.56 seconds while Julius Ennals, Zahara Anthony, Zion George, and Elin Stone combined to secure the ten and Under 200m freestyle relay time for Marlins in two minutes, 20.82 seconds.
