Stories of Success (SOS) Basketball Academy and Defence Force will meet in game two of the best-of-three final in the JCW Invitational Basketball League at the Southern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Pleasantville from 9 pm on Friday.
The Defence Force will need a victory over the Kern George-coached SOS if they are to push the series to a decider on Sunday at the same venue.
But SOS, who won game one against the Army/Coast Guard combination unit 90-74 last Sunday, will be hoping to close off the series on Friday, before looking ahead to the National Basketball Federation of T&T’s National Invitational Championships (NIC), which is scheduled to start on Sunday at the Maloney Indoor Sports Arena.
The NBFTT will be hosting some of the top teams in the men’s and women’s divisions during the NIC series.
SOS and Defence Force will line up in the men’s division alongside Police, Brian Chase Basketball Academy, Maloney Pacers, Prisons and Caledonia Clippers. The women’s division will feature Police, Defence Force and Brian Chase Academy.
Police and Brian Chase will renew their rivalry when they meet in the women’s opener on Sunday from 6.30 pm, while the opening men’s match will see Pacers challenge Prisons from 8.30 pm.
The Maloney tournament is expected to run for some three months and games will be played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at the Maloney venue.
