Scores of box­ers, coach­es, and oth­er ad­min­is­tra­tors were ho­n­oured when the T&T Box­ing As­so­ci­a­tion cel­e­brat­ed the IBA In­ter­na­tion­al Box­ing Day on Au­gust 27 at the Cos­mic Box­ing Gym, Bat­too Av­enue, Mara­bel­la.

For their con­tri­bu­tion to the sport, ei­ther in or out of the box­ing ring, cer­tifi­cates of ap­pre­ci­a­tion were giv­en out fol­low­ing a lun­cheon and gath­er­ing of the stake­hold­ers.

Box­ers Tian­na Guy, a sil­ver medal­list at the re­cent Pan Amer­i­can Box­ing Qual­i­fiers in Cali, Colom­bia led the list of elite box­ers to have been giv­en cer­tifi­cates of ap­pre­ci­a­tion. The oth­ers in­clude Aaron Prince, the 2020 Olympic Games qual­i­fi­er who al­so won a sil­ver medal at the IBA Gold­en Belt Se­ries; An­gel Eyed George, bronze medal­list at the Con­ti­nen­tal Cham­pi­onship in Cali, Co­lum­bia; Or­te­ga Jukhu, a bronze medal win­ner at the Con­ti­nen­tal Cham­pi­onship; and emerg­ing box­er Prince Charles who proved him­self at the School­boys and Girls Cham­pi­onships be­fore mak­ing his way to the elite team where he claimed a bronze medal at the Con­ti­nen­tal Cham­pi­onship.

Coach and man­ag­er Reynold Cox, who has been cred­it­ed for guid­ing the T&T team to five qual­i­fy­ing spots at the Pan Am Qual­i­fiers last month, was al­so joined by James Beck­les, Mer­rill Si­mon, De­op­er­sad Ra­moutar, Vic­ki Boodram, Ja­son Aqui, Co­dring­ton Joe­field, Rawl­son Dop­well, An­tho­ny Wa­ter­man, Du­ane Mitchell, Bri­an Bow­man and for­mer box­er now turn coach Wen­dell Jukhu.
