Na­tion­al cy­clist Kwe­si Browne made a tri­umphant re­turn to track cy­cling when he won the Men’s Elite keirin on the sec­ond day of the UCI Class II East­er In­ter­na­tion­al Grand Prix Cy­cling at the Ari­ma Velo­drome on Sat­ur­day night.

Last Au­gust 10, 31-year-old Browne suf­fered a nasty crash in his six-lap repechage heat in the men’s keirin event at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yve­lines Velo­drome at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which end­ed his medal hopes — ef­fec­tive­ly end­ing his quar­ter­fi­nal hopes in the event.

Since then, the T&T cy­clist had been on the mend and was ex­pect­ed to par­tic­i­pate in the re­cent Luces Broth­ers Memo­r­i­al Cy­cling Clas­sic at Skin­ner Park but was a no-show.

How­ev­er, on Sat­ur­day night, when com­pe­ti­tion shift­ed from Fri­day’s open­ing night at the Ian Ather­ly Track, Skin­ner Park, in San Fer­nan­do to Ari­ma, Browne of Madon­na Wheel­ers made a win­ning re­turn by tak­ing top spot in the keirin ahead of fel­low T&T cy­clists Danell James and Ryan D’Abreau, a mem­ber of the T&T se­nior men’s sprint team along with Nicholas Paul and Njisane Phillip, which won Team Sprint gold at the Pan Amer­i­can Track Cham­pi­onships in Asun­cion, Paraguay, re­cent­ly.
