Central FC and Tiger Tanks Club Sando moved into a two-way share for the lead at the top of the 12-club 2023 T&T Premier Football League standings after contrasting wins in their respective Match Day Three encounters Wednesday.

At the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, Arima, three different players were on target as Central FC blanked Cunupia FC 3-0 while Club Sando edged San Juan Jabloteh 1-0 at the Mahaica Sporting Complex, Point Fortin.

At Malabar, former national defender Daneil Cyrus opened the scoring for Central FC in the 15th minute and the Randolph Boyce-coached team held onto the narrow lead until Kesean St Rose made it 2-0 five minutes into the second half followed by an insurance item from out-of-favour national midfielder Keron ‘Ball Pest’ Cummings in the 75th minute.

The win was the second from three matches for Central FC to move to seven points at the top of the 12-club standings, the same as the Cornell Glen-coached Club Sando who got a lone item from Kevon Williams in the first half to edge visiting Jabloteh, leaving the latter without a win after three matches.

In another early match, the Walt Noreiga-coached AC Port-of-Spain defeated Police FC 2-0 thanks to goals from overlooked national midfielders, Duane Muckette in the 30th minute and Jomoul Francois, ten minutes from full-time at the Arima Municipal Stadium, to hand the Lawmen their second loss from as many outings.

There were also three late matches on schedule last night with Prisons Service up against Caledonia AIA at Arima; Point Fortin Civic hosting Defence Force at Mahaica Sporting Complex, and the highly anticipated meeting between Terminix La Horquetta Rangers and W Connection at La Horquetta.
