Men's A cham­pi­on Nabeel Mo­hammed made a per­fect start in the East Clubs Clas­si­fied Ten­nis Tour­na­ment on Tues­day at the Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre (NRC) in Tacarigua.

Mo­hammed con­sid­ered the most tech­ni­cal­ly sound play­er in T&T, took two sets to dis­pose of Ronald Robin­son on court two 6-2, 6-3 to ad­vance to round two of the tour­na­ment. And lat­er third seed Richard Chung, who se­cured a place on the coun­try's Davis Cup team re­cent­ly, made light work out of Ki­no Fran­cis 6-4, 6-0, while Ebolum N'Woko­lo took care of Aaron Wood­ford on the near­by court one 6-4, 7-5 for a sec­ond-round spot.

In an­oth­er game, Kevin Naidoo al­so booked his place in round two with a 6-4, 6-2 tri­umph over Daniel Yous­eff.

Rhon­da Mo­hammed was the lone Women's A play­er to take the court on Tues­day and she cruised to the sec­ond round with­out break­ing a sweat 6-0, 6-0 against Mignon King.

Af­ter­wards, she looked on as Men's B ac­tion saw Saqiv Williams dis­miss­ing Frank Ra­mu­dit in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, and Praveen Ku­mar de­feat­ing Karl Woods 6-0, 6-3 for their pas­sage in­to the sec­ond round. Randy Bai­ley al­so pre­vailed over Marc Lessey 6-2, 6-1 and Ku­mar Sookram tri­umphed af­ter a gut­sy bat­tle with Mukesh Ram­s­ingh 5-7, 6-0, 10-2. But the sec­ond round of the tour­na­ment al­so wel­comed Narad Ram­s­ingh and Hay­den Sal­im, both of whom had walk-over vic­to­ries over Ken Ab­erdeen and Prakash Rag­bir re­spec­tive­ly.
