Kale Dalla Costa was one of the only bright sparks on day two for T&T at the JITIC GA and G3 Tennis Tournament in Cancun, Mexico on Sunday.
Dalla Costa, the 2021 boys under-14 singles winner of the Lease Operators Junior Tournament, defeated Tristan Petit of Bermuda in straight sets 6-1 6-0 playing out of Group VI at the tournament. Also winning on the day was Breanna Harricharan who took care of Maria Pinto of Honduras 6-1, 1-6, 10-6. The game was a continuation of an earlier match the day before.
Harricharan, another Lease Operators standout players, had taken the advance early on Saturday before the match was stopped with the Honduran attempting to make a comeback. But following a triumph by the Honduran to force a play-off, Harricharan returned to the courts yesterday to assure herself the win.
Outside of that it was not the best of days for the country’s junior players, as Yeshowah Campbell-Smith was beaten by Patrick Mac Taggart of Bahamas 6-4, 6-3 in Group I, Aaron Subero went down to Diego Bustamente of Honduras 6-1, 6-0 in Group V and Brian Harricharan succumbed to a 6-0, 6-1 defeat to Yared Alfred of the USVI in Group VII.
