Ti­tle-hold­er De­fence Force and Ter­minix La Hor­quet­ta Rangers will con­tin­ue their quest for the 2022 ti­tle in the ten-club As­cen­sion Foot­ball League when Round 11 match­es kick off with a dou­ble-head­er at the Phase II Recre­ation Ground in La Hor­quet­ta from 6 pm on Fri­day.

Cur­rent­ly, Rangers and De­fence Force both have 26 points from ten match­es at the top of the ta­ble, how­ev­er, the for­mer en­joys the slimmest of leads by virtue of a su­pe­ri­or goal-dif­fer­ence of plus-29 to the army/coast-guard com­bi­na­tion's plus-28 with both teams yet to taste de­feat.

Tonight, though, the De­fence Force will need to be at their best as they face a vast­ly im­proved De­porti­vo Point Fortin (PF), who oc­cu­pies fourth spot with 20 points, one be­hind the third-placed Po­lice FC af­ter one of two teams to take points off of the "Teteron Men" so far this sea­son, in a 1-1 draw back on April 8.

Rangers, mean­while, will be con­fi­dent of se­cur­ing three points against Moru­ga FC, whom they ham­mered 11-2 in their first meet­ing this sea­son.

To­mor­row at the Ari­ma Mu­nic­i­pal Sta­di­um, Ari­ma, a dou­ble-head­er is al­so on sched­ule with Re­al West Fort Unit­ed com­ing against Cen­tral FC from 5 pm fol­lowed two hours lat­er, by Cen­tral Soc­cer World and AC Port-of-Spain while on Sun­day at the Po­lice Train­ing Bar­racks Ground in St James, from 5 pm, the Law­men en­ter­tains a slump­ing Cunu­pia FC.

The ten clubs are com­pet­ing in two rounds of foot­ball on 18 match days for a win­ners prize of $100,000, with sec­ond place get­ting $50,000, and third $25,000.

The tour­na­ment was first played in 2019, how­ev­er, due to the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic, the com­pe­ti­tion was not held in 2020 and 2021, with this year’s com­pe­ti­tion be­ing staged with a bud­get of $3.5 mil­lion, with $175,000 in prize mon­ey.
