Dookie eyes ITF J60 Doubles title

T&T’s Jor­dane Dook­ie re­mained on course to cap­ture the Girls Dou­bles crown in the In­ter­na­tion­al Ten­nis Fed­er­a­tion (ITF) World Ten­nis Tour J60 Co­pa Ruisenor Tour­na­ment in San­to Domin­go, Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic on Thurs­day.

Play­ing at Cen­tro Na­cional de Te­nis Par­que Del Este, Dook­ie and her Mex­i­can part­ner Fer­nan­da San­doval de­feat­ed Ger­many’s Lara Is­abel­la Kralus, and Poland’s Karoli­na Lin­cer 6-4, 6-4 and will meet Amer­i­cans Ni­na Costales, and Trine­tra Vi­jayaku­mar who won the oth­er semi­fi­nal, 5-7, 6-2, (10-4) over Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic’s Maria Gell, and Daria Ste­fa­nia Malaes­cu of Ro­ma­nia.

In the open­ing round, Dook­ie and San­doval over­came USA’s Ana Avramovic, and Hai­ley Melis­sa Lizano Morales of Ecuador 6-4, 6-2, and then swept past Rosario El­mude­si, and Ro­cio Lisette Es­pinal Di­az, both of Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic, 6-2, 6-4 in the quar­ter­fi­nals.

And, in the Girls’ Sin­gles, Dook­ie was hand­ed a round-of-64 bye and then de­feat­ed host play­er Mi­ran­da Bosch 6-3, 6-3 in the last-32, but was then tak­en down in three sets by In­dia’s Di­va Bha­tia 6-3, 0-6, 1-6.
