T&T’s Jordane Dookie remained on course to capture the Girls Doubles crown in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour J60 Copa Ruisenor Tournament in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on Thursday.
Playing at Centro Nacional de Tenis Parque Del Este, Dookie and her Mexican partner Fernanda Sandoval defeated Germany’s Lara Isabella Kralus, and Poland’s Karolina Lincer 6-4, 6-4 and will meet Americans Nina Costales, and Trinetra Vijayakumar who won the other semifinal, 5-7, 6-2, (10-4) over Dominican Republic’s Maria Gell, and Daria Stefania Malaescu of Romania.
In the opening round, Dookie and Sandoval overcame USA’s Ana Avramovic, and Hailey Melissa Lizano Morales of Ecuador 6-4, 6-2, and then swept past Rosario Elmudesi, and Rocio Lisette Espinal Diaz, both of Dominican Republic, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
And, in the Girls’ Singles, Dookie was handed a round-of-64 bye and then defeated host player Miranda Bosch 6-3, 6-3 in the last-32, but was then taken down in three sets by India’s Diva Bhatia 6-3, 0-6, 1-6.
