Ebony Z Champ, the University of the West Indies (UWI) and San Juan Jabloteh emerged the Knockout champions in their respective divisions of the Lystra Lewis Port-of-Spain Netball League (LLPOSNL) at the Woodbrook Youth Facility in Port-of-Spain on Saturday afternoon.

Ebony Z Champ sealed the Women’s A1 Division title after a hard-fought 12-11 win over Soul City. Goal-shooter Janeisha Cassimy was best in the circle, producing a team-high ten goals from 12 attempts in the thrilling final. Her goal-attack Reeka Seerattan added the other two goals from six tries.

For Soul City, Jelissa Cooper was flawless, hitting all her six attempts while goal-attack Kalifa Mc Collin-Lopez was almost perfect with five from six.

The Ebony Z Champ club had teams reaching the three finals but the other two teams were unsuccessful.

Earlier in the Women’s A2 Division finale, both shooters were perfect for the winner, UWI, with goal-attack Jelissa Goodridge leading with 10 from as many tries and her goal-shooter Maikea Bramble connecting all of her seven attempts in their team’s comfortable 17-5 win over Ebony Z Champs.

Tiffany Gonzales was best for the losing side with three in five.

In the men’s final, Jabloteh edged Ebony Z Champ 12-11 despite the latter having more chances at goal, 16 compared to 14.

They were left to rue their missed chances as Arieon Edwards netted all of the winner’s goals, a match-high 12 in 14. His goal-attack, Jason Noray, who was part of the national men’s team that placed second in the Americas Men’s Championship last year, attempted no goals but did well to feed his shooter in the narrow one-goal victory.

For Ebony Z Champ, fellow national men’s player Keon Russell led with six from 10.

Last Wednesday, Hillgirls and Horizon Sports and Cultural Club were the knockout winners in the respective Inters and B Divisions in the 86th edition of the LLPOSNL.
