Fatima, San Juan North aim to stay top

De­fend­ing Na­tion­al In­ter-Col cham­pi­ons Fa­ti­ma Col­lege and San Juan North Sec­ondary will be hop­ing to main­tain joint top spot in the race for the ti­tle in the 16-team Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League (SS­FL) Boys’ Pre­mier Di­vi­sion when Round 11 match­es take on Wednes­day.

Go­ing in­to to­day's match­es, the Hut­son Charles-coached Fa­ti­ma Col­lege, and San Juan North un­der the guid­ance of long-serv­ing coach Jer­ry More both have 25 points from ten match­es, while four-time cham­pi­ons Na­pari­ma Col­lege sits third with 22 points fol­lowed close­ly by de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons St Bene­dict's Col­lege and Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege of San Fer­nan­do, both with 20, and sixth placed St An­tho­ny's Col­lege with 19 points and four more match­es left for each team.

Com­ing off a hard fought 2-0 win against Ari­ma North Sec­ondary, Fa­ti­ma will make the short jour­ney to St Mary's Col­lege Ground, St Clair for a 4 pm clash with Mal­ick Sec­ondary with the league's top goalscor­ers Aiden De Gannes (Fa­ti­ma), and Oba Samuel (Mal­ick), the lat­ter com­ing off a beaver trick set to face off as well.

Fur­ther West, San Juan North will al­so need to be at their best when they trav­el to St An­tho­nyy's Col­lege Ground, West­moor­ings with the for­mer ea­ger to make amends for a goal­less draw at home to Na­pari­ma last time out, while the host will be keen to build on their 3-0 win against Bish­op's High School.

Down South, at Lewis Street, San Fer­nan­do, Na­pari­ma Col­lege and bit­ter ri­val, Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege of San Fer­nan­do will re­new their ri­val­ry with both teams know­ing that a de­feat for ei­ther may well put an end to their ti­tle as­pi­ra­tions for this sea­son while a short dis­tance away, St Bene­dict's Col­lege led by the in­form Mala­cai Webb looks to con­tin­ue their march up the stand­ings when they host strug­gling St Mary's Col­lege at the Man­nie Ramjohn Sta­di­um, Mara­bel­la.

In the oth­er match­es on to­day, East Mu­cu­rapo Sec­ondary en­ter­tains Bish­op's High School at Fa­ti­ma Col­lege Ground; Queen's Roy­al Col­lege hosts Pleas­antville Sec­ondary at QRC Ground, Mar­aval Road, Spey­side wel­comes Ari­ma North Sec­ondary at Spey­side Recre­ation Ground, and Trin­i­ty Col­lege East is at home to Ch­agua­nas North Sec­ondary at Trinci­ty.
