Brian Harricharan pulled off a stunning upset of third-ranked Boys 10 and Under player Liev Khan when matches in the 17th annual Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament continued at the Trinidad Country Club, Long Circular, Maraval on Sunday.
Playing in one of the early matches on court, Harricharan won 6-2 while Connor Carrington stopped Jack Brown 6-2 as well, Scott Abraham whipped Justin Horsford 6-3, Ryan Augustine dumped Nicholas Abraham 6-4.
There were no such problems for the top-ranked players in the Girls 10 and Under, Boys 12 and Under, Girls 12 and Under, Boys 16 and Under and Girls 16 and Under.
In the Girls 10 and Under top-seeded Gabriella Prince punished Zahra Shamsi 6-2 and second-ranked Shiloh Walker blanked Karissa Mohammed 6-0.
Alexander Merry, the number one Boys 12 and Under seed was a walkover winner against Dylan Boocock while Isaiah Boxill, Jordell Chapman, Callum Koylass, Jayden Mitchell, Logan Hamel-Smith and Yeshowah Campbell-Smith, the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh seeds respectively also won.
Boxill overcame Rizwaan Mohammed 4-2, 4-1, Champman trounced Gurkeerat Singh Sohal 4-0, 4-0, Koylass slammed Aaron Subero 4-1, 4-0, Mitchell beat Adam Mackenzie 4-2, 4-0, Hamel-Smith crushed Malcolm Princes 4-0, 4-0, and Campbell-Smith topped Aasir Elder, by a similar 4-0, 4-0 margin.
Inara Chin Lee, the number one Girls 12 and Under player outclassed Neila Maraj 4-1, 4-0 and her sister, Abigail Chin Lee, seeded second won 4-0, 4-0 against Brianna Harricharan.
Ethan Wong lived up to his top seeding in the 16 and Under Boys, by hammering Alex-Jaden Durand 6-0, 6-0 and was joined by second-ranked Sebastian Sylvester who also won without dropping a game, against Emmanuel Porther, while number three player, Charles Devaux spanked Ryan Conyers 6-1, 6-1.
And in the Girls 16 and Under, top player Aalisha Alexis slaughtered Adalia Bardroe 6-0, 6-0, and number two, Isabel Abraham overwhelmed Gabby Mackenzie 6-2, 6-2 while third-ranked Shauna Valentine brushed aside Sydney Doyle 6-0, 6-0.
