Mohammed elected president of BSOTT

Naz­im Mo­hammed has been elect­ed as pres­i­dent of the Bil­liards Sports Or­ganisation of Trinidad and To­ba­go which has said to have turned a cor­ner in their four years of ex­is­tence, with the suc­cess­ful host­ing of their In­au­gur­al Gen­er­al Meet­ing and Elec­tion of Of­fi­cers on Sun­day at the Chi­nese As­so­ci­a­tion in St Ann’s.

The Agen­da in­clud­ed the Sec­re­tary’s re­port, re­views of the or­gan­i­sa­tion’s fi­nances and con­sti­tu­tion, as well as their first elec­tions.

The mem­ber­ship elect­ed in­to of­fice a sev­en-mem­ber ex­ec­u­tive be­hind its in­cor­po­ra­tion which took place in Au­gust of 2018. Be­fore Sun­day’s meet­ings, BSOTT has been led by an in­ter­im ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee.

Some ma­jor mo­ments at the meet­ing were:- the adop­tion and rat­i­fi­ca­tion of the con­sti­tu­tion with some mi­nor amend­ments be­fore it was adopt­ed, the in­ter­im ex­ec­u­tives, all re­tain­ing their po­si­tions to­geth­er with the ad­di­tion of two ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fi­cers.

Of the 94 mem­bers el­i­gi­ble to vote, an im­pres­sive 71 were in at­ten­dance to be part of the de­ci­sion mak­ing process.

There were two nom­i­nees each for the posts of pres­i­dent, vice pres­i­dent and pub­lic re­la­tions of­fi­cer (PRO) and four nom­i­nees for the new­ly added Ad­min po­si­tions. The trea­sur­er and sec­re­tary po­si­tions were elect­ed un­op­posed.

Lau­rence Seep­er­sad, Sec­re­tary of the Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League presided over the elec­tions. He was sup­port­ed by Nigel Maraj, pres­i­dent of the Sec­ondary Schools Crick­et League as the record­ing of­fi­cer and Ziska St John, was the elec­tions clerk.

Al­so in at­ten­dance as ex­ter­nal ob­servers were Delisa Bliz­zard, Phys­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion/Sport Of­fi­cer 1 with the Min­istry of Sport and Com­mu­ni­ty De­vel­op­ment and Karen Ram­cha­ran, Na­tion­al Darts Play­er.

BSOTT would like to thank its mem­ber­ship and all of­fi­cials for their con­tri­bu­tions and re­mains com­mit­ted to rais­ing the pro­file and stan­dard of Cue Sports in Trinidad and To­ba­go.

Com­ing out of the pan­dem­ic, plans are in train to re­turn to play with its Na­tion­al Pool League 9 ball team com­pe­ti­tion and a Na­tion­al 9 ball In­di­vid­ual Cham­pi­onships to be an­nounced.
