Nazim Mohammed has been elected as president of the Billiards Sports Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago which has said to have turned a corner in their four years of existence, with the successful hosting of their Inaugural General Meeting and Election of Officers on Sunday at the Chinese Association in St Ann’s.
The Agenda included the Secretary’s report, reviews of the organisation’s finances and constitution, as well as their first elections.
The membership elected into office a seven-member executive behind its incorporation which took place in August of 2018. Before Sunday’s meetings, BSOTT has been led by an interim executive committee.
Some major moments at the meeting were:- the adoption and ratification of the constitution with some minor amendments before it was adopted, the interim executives, all retaining their positions together with the addition of two administrative officers.
Of the 94 members eligible to vote, an impressive 71 were in attendance to be part of the decision making process.
There were two nominees each for the posts of president, vice president and public relations officer (PRO) and four nominees for the newly added Admin positions. The treasurer and secretary positions were elected unopposed.
Laurence Seepersad, Secretary of the Secondary Schools Football League presided over the elections. He was supported by Nigel Maraj, president of the Secondary Schools Cricket League as the recording officer and Ziska St John, was the elections clerk.
Also in attendance as external observers were Delisa Blizzard, Physical Education/Sport Officer 1 with the Ministry of Sport and Community Development and Karen Ramcharan, National Darts Player.
BSOTT would like to thank its membership and all officials for their contributions and remains committed to raising the profile and standard of Cue Sports in Trinidad and Tobago.
Coming out of the pandemic, plans are in train to return to play with its National Pool League 9 ball team competition and a National 9 ball Individual Championships to be announced.
