Ten­nis queen Carlista Mo­hammed came from a match down in the open­ing set, to beat Aal­isha Alex­is in straights sets for the Girls Sin­gles ti­tle of the Open Na­tion­al Ten­nis Cham­pi­onship at the Na­tion­al Rac­quet Cen­tre (NRC) in Or­ange Grove, Tacarigua yes­ter­day.

Con­stant­ly en­cour­ag­ing her­self to stop play­ing like a lit­tle girl, Mo­hammed, ranked the top seed go­ing in­to the fi­nal, quick­ly ad­just­ed her play to take the ad­van­tage two match­es to one soon af­ter, be­fore claim­ing the set 6-2.

In the oth­er set, Mo­hammed, who won the Shell Tran­quil­i­ty Women's sin­gles crown a few months ago, pre­vailed 6-3. us­ing her ex­pe­ri­ence to telling ef­fect over the youth­ful Alex­is.

Lat­er Mo­hammed joined with Ke­shan Moonasar in the Mixed Dou­bles to ad­vance to the fi­nal when they de­feat­ed the pair of Aaron Wood­ford and Nali­ni Ma­haraj in two sets 6-3, 7-5. They will face the team of Jerome Ward and Cameron Wong, who took care of Ebolum N'woko­lo and Os­eny­onye N'woko­lo 6-2, 6-4 in the oth­er semi­fi­nal en­counter.

Mean­while, in the Women's 35-plus round robin play­off, Far­rah Chau­ti­lal wast­ed lit­tle time in dis­pos­ing of Rachael N'woko­lo 6-0, 6-1 on court five.

And in the men's vet­er­ans dou­bles, Dion Au­guste and Richard Mc Letchie de­feat­ed Andy Boyce and Richard So­ril­lo 6-2, 6-4 in the round robin.
