The Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, Port-of-Spain, was a hive of youthful energy and competitive spirit on Thursday as the Milo Port-of-Spain and Environs Central Zonal Games showcased the next generation of athletic stars.
Rosary Boys RC and Sacred Hearts Girls' RC claimed the overall school titles in Central A, while Newtown Boys RC and St Agnes Girls AC swept Central B.
In Central A, Sacred Hearts Girls' RC proved to be an unstoppable force. Not only did they clinch the champion school girls' title with a dominant 149 points, but they also set the tone early in the day by winning the March Past with 271 points. On the boys' side, Rosary Boys RC stood tall as the champion school (Boys), amassing 95 points to secure the top spot.
The individual performances were spectacular. In the U-9 division, Keylan Kamaka (Richmond Street Boys AC) and Zamora Sherry (Sacred Hearts Girls' RC) picked up the Victor and Victrix Ludorum honours, both led with 10 points. The U-11 category was dominated by Marcelo Padia (Rosary Boys RC) with 10 points and Neriah Alexander (St Catherine's Girls AC) with 12.
One of the highest tallies of the day came in the U-13 bracket, where Isoka Morgan (Sacred Hearts Girls RC) earned 15 points alongside Victor Ludorum Kedell Thomas (Rosary Boys RC) with 11. Finally, Yasin Prescod (12) of Madressa All Muslimeen and Arielle Andrew (15) of Sacred Heart Girls RC, rounded out the top honours for the 13-15 age group.
In Central B, Newtown Boys RC was consistent, racking up 143 points to claim the champion school trophy. St Agnes Girls AC fought hard to secure the girls' title with 91 points. Meanwhile, Mucurapo Boys' RC displayed military precision to win the March Past with a score of 275.
The "B" group saw fierce competition and shared titles among some of the zone's brightest prospects. Kylon Jack (Newtown Boys) impressed in the U-9 division with 13 points, while Tamika Mars (Tranquillity Government) took the girls' title. The U-11 category featured a dual victory for Newtown Boys as Jayceon Grosvenor and Tye Cherriandy shared the Victor Ludorum, with Kimora Mc Carley (St Agnes Girls) and Makayla Mars (Tranquillity Government) also sharing the Victrix honours.
In the U-13 division, Caleb Arthur (Newtown Boys) and Naylah Lewis (St Crispin AC) topped, each with 10 points. The senior 13-15 age group saw Nathaniel Hamilton (St Agnes Girls) lead the boys with 14 points, while J'Neida Abdul (St Crispin AC) claimed the Victrix Ludorum title.
