With T&T Pro League leaders Defence Force on a bye this weekend, and second-placed Terminix La Horquetta Rangers not in action until Sunday, Police FC and Morvant Caledonia United will have their eyes set on closing the gap at the top when they face off on Friday.
The meeting between Police FC and Morvant Caledonia United will be the feature clash of a double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva from 8 pm.
Two hours earlier at the same venue, Central FC and San Juan Jabloteh, past three-time and four-time league winners will do battle in the curtain-raiser.
Currently, Defence Force who last won the title in the 2012/2013 season leads the 11-team table with 26 points from 11 matches, seven ahead of Rangers while Police FC and Morvant Caledonia United complete the top-four with 18 and 17 points respectively, meaning a win on Friday for the latter two will see them climb to the second spot ahead of the completion of the weekend fixtures.
The Richard Hood-coached Lawmen will enter the match on the heels of a lacklustre goalless stalemate with cellar-placed Cunupia FC while Morvant Caledonia under the guidance of former T&T World Cup midfielder, Densil "Bleeder" Theobald last played in a 0-0 draw with AC Port-of-Spain on Saturday after their match against W Connection carded for Wednesday was postponed to a date to be determine.
Jabloteh, fifth on the standings with 13 points are coming off a 5-0 spanking from Club Sando and coach Keith Jeffrey will also be keen for his team to rediscover their battling form which has seen them taken points off of Defence Force, and W Connection already this season, while Central FC was held to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night against AC Port-of-Spain at Couva.
On Sunday, AC Port-of-Spain and Terminix La Horquetta Rangers face off at Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, from 3.30 pm, while at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva is double-headers is scheduled from 4pm, with W Connection meeting Pt Fortin Civic followed by Cunupia FC and Tiger Tanks Club Sando.
