Presentation College of San Fernando will begin defence of its Shell/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) crown when it welcomes Trinity College of Moka, Maravl to the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella from 3.40 pm today.
Winners of the newly formatted league last year to follow in the footsteps of Naparima College and Shiva Boys Hindu College, the winner before, the Shawn Cooper-coached Presentation will start as favourites against Trinity College, which will be under the supervision of former national youth team coach Ken Elie.
Down at Morne Coco Road, Westmoorings, the Ronald Daniel-coached St Anthony’s College which was third last year will face a stern test from long-time rival St Augustine Secondary with Adrian Romain at the helm, at St Anthony’s College Ground, from 3.40 pm.
In other matches, Fatima College buoyed by its core of players who lifted the national SSFL Under-16 crown last year will host newly promoted Bishop’s High School at Fatima College Ground; North Zone duo, Queen’s Royal College and promoted East Mucurapo Secondary meet at QRC Ground, St Clair, while St Mary’s College is at home to former two-time champions, Naparima College at Serpentine Road, St Clair.
San Juan North Secondary currently sit atop the 15-team table after its opening day 3-0 defeat of promoted Valencia Secondary while Trinity College East and St Benedict’s drew goalless in Thursday’s double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.
