Queen’s Park Ta­ble Ten­nis Club will be boost­ed by the re­turn of Com­mon­wealth Games play­ers, Guyana’s She­mar Brit­ton and T&T’s Der­ron Dou­glas when the team serve off the de­fence of its In­sur­ance Com­pa­ny of the West In­dies (ICWI) Ta­ble Ten­nis Cham­pi­ons League Tour­na­ment ti­tle at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Re­gion­al Sports Are­na, Tacarigua from 6.30 pm on Wednes­day.

The Parkites who won the com­pe­ti­tion ahead of Rene­gades (now Leg­ends Unit­ed) last year will al­so fea­ture 12-time na­tion­al women’s cham­pi­on Aleena Ed­wards, two-time women’s sin­gles cham­pi­on Brit­tany Joseph, Joshua Maxwell, Aaron Ed­wards, Abra­ham Fran­cis, and Imani Ed­wards-Tay­lor, all past or present se­nior or ju­nior na­tion­al play­ers on their ros­ter for the six-club com­pe­ti­tion with their open­ing clash against WASA Ta­ble Ten­nis Club.

The WASA squad is not to be un­der­es­ti­mat­ed go­ing in­to the open­ing day of com­pe­ti­tion as it fea­tures for­mer na­tion­al cham­pi­on and Caribbean medal­ist Cur­tis Humphreys, along with Guyana’s Nigel Bryan, Alar­ic Humphreys, Ri­ad Abasali, Vi­noo Ma­haraj, Joel Hen­ry, Christoff Roberts, Dav­eon Humphreys, and Em­manuel Ed­wards.

In the oth­er match­es card­ed for Tacarigua this evening, the new­ly formed North East/West plays So­lo Cru­saders while Ari­ma Ta­ble Ten­nis Club clash­es with Leg­ends Unit­ed, and on Thurs­day (Au­gust 11), Leg­ends Unit­ed and So­lo Cru­saders clash from 6.15 pm fol­lowed by QPCC against North East/West, and Ari­ma Ta­ble Ten­nis Club faces WASA Ta­ble Ten­nis Club.

The Parkites and WASA are not the on­ly teams who have an in­jec­tion of for­eign fire­pow­er as Ari­ma Ta­ble Ten­nis Club will be boost­ed by four Guyanese play­ers in Jonathan Van Lange (Guyana), Ni­ran Bis­su (Guyana), Col­in Wong (Guyana), and Krys­t­ian Sa­hadeo (Guyana) while Leg­ends Unit­ed line-up in­cludes Bar­ba­di­an duo, Tyrese Knight, the 2017 Caribbean ju­nior cham­pi­on, and Ra­mon Maxwell (Bar­ba­dos).
