QRC takes on Fatima in U-15 boys final in Schools bball

The stage is set for an ex­cit­ing boys' Un­der-15 fi­nal card­ed for Wednes­day (March 22) on the bas­ket­ball court at the Nel­son Man­dela Park in St Clair, Port-of-Spain in the T&T Sec­ondary Schools Bas­ket­ball League.

Queen's Roy­al Col­lege (QRC) and Fa­ti­ma Col­lege will meet in the ti­tle match which jumps off at 4.15 pm. This af­ter QRC edged St Mary's Col­lege, 36-35 and Fa­ti­ma de­feat­ed South East Port of Spain (SE­POS), 51-24.

Both semi­fi­nal match­es took place on Mon­day evening at the same St Clair venue which saw un­de­feat­ed St Mary’s go un­der to QRC in the first match-up with the lat­ter com­ing from be­hind to score the win­ning bas­ket with four sec­onds on the clock. Al­though St Mary’s got the fi­nal shot off at the end, it did not fall.

Eli­jah Bruce led the scor­ing for QRC with 14 points help­ing them book their spot in to­day’s fi­nal.

In the sec­ond se­mi-fi­nal of the evening, Fa­ti­ma out­played SE­POS.

Led by their cap­tain William Fran­cis, Fa­ti­ma jumped out to an ear­ly lead, and nev­er looked back se­cur­ing a con­vinc­ing 27-point win. Fran­cis top­scored with 26 points while team­mates Adri­an Thomas chipped in with 11 points and Idri­is Mar­tin with eight to see their team take on QRC for the U-15 ti­tle.

The win­ner will go on to rep­re­sent the North Zone at the Na­tion­al Schools Bas­ket­ball Cham­pi­onships in April.
