GEORGE­TOWN, Guyana– For­mer West In­dies wick­et­keep­er/bats­man De­nesh Ramdin has been cho­sen to lead a West In­dies side in next month’s In­ter­na­tion­al Mas­ters Crick­et (IMC) Over-40s 45-over World Cup.

The Crick­et West In­dies Mas­ters As­so­ci­a­tion an­nounced a 14-man squad over the week­end that al­so in­cludes for­mer West In­dies cap­tain Ramnaresh Sar­wan and leg spin­ner De­ven­dra Bishoo, to take part in the Oc­to­ber 17 to 31 tour­na­ment in Guyana.

The team will be man­aged by Ra­jen­dra Sadeo, with Ju­lian Moore named as coach and Suren­dra Seer­aj as as­sis­tant coach.

The 41-year-old Ramdin played 74 Tests and 139 One Day In­ter­na­tion­als for the re­gion­al side, and along with Sar­wan, 46, who fea­tured in 87 Tests and 181 ODIs, joined sev­er­al oth­er ex-West In­di­an play­ers in­clud­ing Rayad Em­rit, Sew­nar­ine Chat­ter­goon and Ja­son Mo­hammed.

West In­dies have been placed in Group A and will open their cam­paign against Aus­tralia at the Na­tion­al Sta­di­um in Prov­i­dence.

They will be joined in Group A by Namib­ia, Cana­da, Wales, de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons South Africa, Sri Lan­ka and Colom­bia.

Mean­while, Group B in­cludes Eng­land, New Zealand, USA, Pak­istan, In­dia, Scot­land, the Rest of the World XI and the Rest of the Caribbean XI.

The two top teams from each group will progress to the semi­fi­nals be­fore the fi­nal­ists face off at Prov­i­dence.
