T&T Red Force captain Joshua Da Silva fell 14 runs short of what could have been his fourth straight First Class hundred late last evening in an effort to bring his team closer to the Jamaica Scorpions' first innings total of 372 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando, yesterday.
Jamaica resumed day two on 274 for 6 with Javelle Glenn in 99 and Abhijai Mansingh on 61. Glenn scored his hundred early in the day, but the Scorpions lost Mansingh early in the first session, as the Red Force interrupted the run-scoring with four wickets in the morning session.
Jamaica were bowled out for 372 with Glenn finishing on 140 not out.
The Red Force started miserably and were two for two with both openers, Cephas Cooper and Kamil Pooran both dismissed for ducks.
In-form middle order batsman Jason Mohammed could not save them as he made only 10 as the Red Force were reduced to 30 for four and 39 for five when Khary Pierre was out.
Da Silva, who came out to bat on the back of three consecutive hundreds lost partners regularly but got support from Yannic Cariah who returned to the middle after retiring hurt. But the captain and wicketkeeper was last out when he was caught by Brandon King off the bowling of Brad Barnes.
The Red Force were eventually bowled out for 171, still 201 runs behind in the final session after dinner.
