West In­dies One Day In­ter­na­tion­al and T20 head coach Daren Sam­my will take over as Test coach at the end of the cur­rent World Test Cham­pi­onship cy­cle.

Sam­my, who had his white ball con­tract ex­tend­ed, will al­so have the Test re­spon­si­bil­i­ties added to his plate.

In an­nounc­ing the ap­point­ment dur­ing the CWI's quar­ter­ly press con­fer­ence in St Vin­cent and the Grenadines on Mon­day, Di­rec­tor of Crick­et for Crick­et West In­dies, Miles Bas­combe, praised Sam­my’s tenure since tak­ing over.

“We have been quite im­pressed by the way he has char­tered the course for our white ball teams,” Bas­combe said. “He has guid­ed them to­wards con­sis­ten­cy of per­for­mance and that is ex­act­ly what we want to see.”

An­dre Co­ley’s last as­sign­ment will be West In­dies' two-match Test se­ries against Pak­istan in Jan­u­ary.

Dur­ing Co­ley’s tenure as West In­dies Test coach since his ap­point­ment in De­cem­ber 2022, the re­gion­al team beat Zim­bab­we two-nil in 2023, while draw­ing with Aus­tralia and Bangladesh (both 1-1) in 2024.

West In­dies lost se­ries against In­dia (1-0) in 2023, Eng­land (3-0) in 2024 and South Africa (2-0 twice), in 2023 and 2024.
