Soca Warriors grouped with rivals USA, Haiti, and Saudis for Gold Cup

T&T So­ca War­riors will open their 13th CON­CA­CAF Gold Cup cam­paign with a clash against the USA in Group D at Pay­Pal Park, San Jose, Cal­i­for­nia, USA on June 15, from 3 pm.

The Dwight Yorke-coached ‘So­ca War­riors’ then face Haiti at Shell En­er­gy Sta­di­um, Hous­ton, Texas, on Thurs­day, June 19, from 5.45 pm, fol­lowed by a clash with Sau­di Ara­bia at Al­le­giant Sta­di­um, Las Ve­gas, Neva­da, on Sun­day, June 22, from 4 pm.

The 2025 CON­CA­CAF Gold Cup open­ing match will take place at SoFi Sta­di­um in Los An­ge­les, Cal­i­for­nia, fea­tur­ing de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Mex­i­co and the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic on Sat­ur­day, June 14, while the fi­nal, where the Gold Cup’s cham­pi­on will be crowned, will be held at NRG Sta­di­um on Ju­ly 6.

For the 16-team draw of the 18th edi­tion of the com­pe­ti­tion, which took place on Thurs­day night in Mi­a­mi, Flori­da, USA, the So­ca War­riors were drawn in pot three along with Guatemala, El Sal­vador and Suri­name af­ter de­feat­ing Cu­ba 6-1 on ag­gre­gate in their pre­lim­i­nary round qual­i­fi­er, 2-1 away on March 21, in San­ti­a­go, Cu­ba, and 4-0 on March 25, at the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um, Cou­va.

Pri­or to com­pet­ing in the Gold Cup in June, the So­ca War­riors will re­sume their sec­ond CON­CA­CAF World Cup qual­i­fiers against St Kitts/Nevis and Cos­ta Ri­ca in Group B on June 6 and Cos­ta Ri­ca four days lat­er.

T&T is cur­rent­ly sec­ond in their 2026 FI­FA CON­CA­CAF World Cup Sec­ond Round Group B qual­i­fiers with four points from two match­es, trail­ing Cos­ta Ri­ca, who has a max­i­mum of six points af­ter a 2-2 draw at home to St Kitts & Nevis and a 7-1 win on the road against Ba­hamas.

At the end of the round-robin se­ries, the top two teams will ad­vance to the next stage of the CON­CA­CAF World Cup qual­i­fiers.

Thurs­day night’s draw was co-host­ed by sports an­chors and TV pre­sen­ters Ana Ju­r­ka, Mari­ah Ramharack, and Ale­jan­dro Berry, in the pres­ence of CON­CA­CAF Pres­i­dent and FI­FA Vice Pres­i­dent Vic­tor Mon­tagliani.

CON­CA­CAF’s Chief Foot­ball Com­pe­ti­tions Of­fi­cer, Car­los Fer­nan­dez, con­duct­ed the draw and was as­sist­ed by three for­mer Gold Cup cham­pi­ons: Dwayne De Rosario (Cana­da), Jorge Cam­pos (Mex­i­co), and Marce­lo Bal­boa (USA), along­side Pana­ma’s Blas Pérez.

Over­all, the 16 teams in the draw earned a spot in the 2025 CON­CA­CAF Gold Cup through their per­for­mances in the 2024/25 CON­CA­CAF Na­tions League and the 2025 CON­CA­CAF Gold Cup Pre­lims.

The four teams to qual­i­fy from the 2024/25 CON­CA­CAF Na­tions League as quar­ter­fi­nal win­ners were even­tu­al cham­pi­ons Mex­i­co, run­ner-up Pana­ma, third-placed fin­ish­er Cana­da, and the USA, while the qual­i­fiers through the 2024/25 CON­CA­CAF Na­tions League, as League B group win­ners, were Cu­raçao (Group B), the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic (Group D), El Sal­vador (Group A), and Haiti (Group C), with Cos­ta Ri­ca, Guade­loupe, Guatemala, Hon­duras, Ja­maica, and Suri­name join­ing T&T as qual­i­fiers via the 2025 CON­CA­CAF Gold Cup pre­lims matchups, while Sau­di Ara­bia was the lone in­vit­ed team.

Based on the CON­CA­CAF men’s na­tion­al team rank­ings as of March 26, the 15 par­tic­i­pat­ing CON­CA­CAF teams were sep­a­rat­ed in­to Pots 1-4, with the cur­rent cham­pi­ons and the three high­est-ranked teams in Pot One and the low­est-ranked in Pot Four, while guest na­tion Sau­di Ara­bia will be placed in Pot Four.

The com­pe­ti­tion’s of­fi­cial draw was car­ried out us­ing a dou­ble-blind sys­tem in­volv­ing eight pots.

Pots One to Four con­tained the spheres with the names of the par­tic­i­pat­ing teams, and Pots Five to Eight will con­tain Group A, B, C, and D spheres.

For the CON­CA­CAF Gold Cup group stage draw, Pot One com­prised Mex­i­co, Cana­da, Pana­ma, and the USA; Pot Two com­prised Cos­ta Ri­ca, Ja­maica, Hon­duras, and Haiti; Pot Three com­prised Guatemala, T&T, El Sal­vador, and Suri­name; and Pot Four com­prised Guade­loupe, Cu­raçao, the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic, and Sau­di Ara­bia.

The tour­na­ment will kick off on June 14 and end on June 24.

The four group win­ners and four run­ners-up will ad­vance to the Knock­out Stage.
