Unit­ed States Ma­jor League Soc­cer (MLS) 2024 Su­per­Draft top picks, Tyrese Spicer of Toron­to FC and Wayne Fred­er­ick II of Col­orado Rapids, and the teenaged duo of Lin­dell Sween of Cale­do­nia FC and Rio Car­dines of Crys­tal Palace, both mem­bers of the na­tion­al Un­der-20 team, have been named in T&T coach An­gus Eve's pro­vi­sion­al squad of 60 play­ers for the Con­ca­caf Na­tions League play-in match against Cana­da.

The Eve-coached So­ca War­riors will clash with the Cana­di­ans at the Toy­ota Sta­di­um, Frisco, Texas, USA on March 24 with the win­ner ad­vanc­ing to Co­pa Amer­i­ca Group A se­ries along­side World Cup cham­pi­ons and 15-time South Amer­i­can win­ners Ar­genti­na, two-time cham­pi­ons Pe­ru and Chile, al­so a twice-time win­ners.

Last De­cem­ber, Toron­to FC then Lip­scomb Uni­ver­si­ty for­ward Spicer of T&T was the No 1 over­all pick in the MLS draft while Duke Uni­ver­si­ty sopho­more Wayne Fred­er­ick II, the son of for­mer Howard Uni­ver­si­ty pres­i­dent, T&T’s Wayne Fred­er­ick, was se­lect­ed No 2 by Col­orado Rapids.

The se­lec­tion of Trinci­ty-born Spicer, the son of coach Trevor Spicer, and Fred­er­ick made them the high­est-ever T&T play­ers who have been draft­ed by teams in the MLS, sur­pass­ing for­mer St An­tho­ny’s Col­lege and the Uni­ver­si­ty of Con­necti­cut de­fend­er Julius James, 2007 Her­mann Tro­phy can­di­date and Lowe’s Se­nior CLASS Award fi­nal­ist who was draft­ed ninth over­all in the 2008 MLS Su­per­Draft by Toron­to FC.
