Leaders Chicago Steelpan Players slipped to their second loss in the seventh edition of the Dream XI T10 Trinidad Blast on Tuesday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando.

The loss coincided with Sidel Diaz’s first-ball duck. The Prison’s opener has been in rich form of late and has been instrumental in the Players’ four wins out of six before Tuesday.

The Blue Devils batted first and got 38 from Rajeev Ramnath at the top of the order. The elder brother of West Indies Under-19 women’s captain, Samara, hit three sixes in his 21-ball innings and needed to step up after losing fellow opener Kamil Pooran for nine.

The Blue Devils were led by their captain, Adrian Ali, who spanked an unbeaten 46, including five sixes and three fours in his 15-ball knock.

Blue Devils closed on 139 for 4 in ten overs.

In their reply, Steelpan Players lost Diaz for a duck at the end of the first over with 15 runs on the board.

With no contribution from the in-form Diaz, the Cooper brothers stepped up, with Silus getting to 44 and Akeil registering 32.

But the task was too great and without much support from the rest of the batters (Mark Deyal scored 15 from 12), and the Steelpan Players could only get to 109 for four, to lose by 30 runs.

Also on Tuesday, former U-19 pacer Liam Mamchan took three wickets to lead the Scarlet Ibis Scorchers to a convincing win over Leatherback Strikers and lift them into fifth of the six-team table, overtaking Strikers.

The former Naparima spearhead took three for 11 from his two overs to restrict the Strikers to 71 for six from their 10 overs. St Lucia Kings all-rounder Mikkel Govia conceded just four runs from his two overs to stifle the flow of runs.

The Scorchers then scorched the Strikers' bowling attack and rushed to 77 for two in only four overs and four balls to win by eight wickets and 32 balls to spare.

In another match, Jesse Bootan notched an unbeaten half-century (91 not out) to lift Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers to a 10-wicket win over Soca Kings to sit atop of the standings.
