Crick­et West In­dies (CWI) con­firmed on Sat­ur­day that the fi­nal mem­bers of the West In­dies Men’s T20 World Cup squad have ar­rived home safe­ly, bring­ing an end to a lo­gis­ti­cal­ly chal­leng­ing week in In­dia.

​The re­turn jour­ney for the play­ers and Team Man­age­ment Unit (TMU) be­came a point of con­cern fol­low­ing the T20 World Cup af­ter a se­ries of can­cel­la­tions dis­rupt­ed the char­tered flights orig­i­nal­ly co­or­di­nat­ed by the In­ter­na­tion­al Crick­et Coun­cil (ICC).

​While the ini­tial plan for a col­lec­tive ex­it from In­dia fal­tered, CWI of­fi­cials worked through the week to se­cure al­ter­na­tive com­mer­cial trav­el. The board an­nounced that the stag­gered re­turn process con­clud­ed over the last sev­er­al days as the fi­nal group of play­ers reached their re­spec­tive home des­ti­na­tions.

​"The well-be­ing and safe­ty of our play­ers and staff re­main para­mount," CWI stat­ed in an of­fi­cial re­lease. "We are grate­ful that the mat­ter has now been brought to a safe and sat­is­fac­to­ry con­clu­sion."

​The safe re­turn of the "Men in Ma­roon" was a col­lab­o­ra­tive ef­fort in­volv­ing sev­er­al key part­ners. CWI ex­tend­ed its grat­i­tude to the ICC for its co­or­di­na­tion de­spite the ini­tial set­backs, as well as to re­gion­al crick­et boards and var­i­ous stake­hold­ers who as­sist­ed in fa­cil­i­tat­ing the com­plex trav­el arrange­ments on short no­tice.

​The board al­so ac­knowl­edged the out­pour­ing of sup­port from the Caribbean pub­lic and the glob­al crick­et­ing com­mu­ni­ty, who had ex­pressed con­cern over the squad's de­lay and well-wish­es.
