The exhibition, The Art of Obeah, was hosted on March 19 at the Lloyd Best Institute, Tunapuna.
The Art of Obeah was the first major display of art at the institute and was hosted on the anniversary of the passing of economist Lloyd Best. The exhibition featured the work of Makemba Kunle and master artist LeRoy Clarke. The event also served to celebrate the work of the Mighty Shadow.
Calypsonian Roderick “Chuck” Gordon, along with guitarist Marva Newton, paid tribute to Shadow on the evening by performing a few of the late calypso bard’s popular pieces.
The Art of Obeah: Leroy Clarke, Makemba Kunle and Shadow closes on March 30. The exhibition runs from 10 am to 6 pm daily.
