The Maniram Maharaj-trained Champagne On Deck will go for a quick hattrick of victories on Saturday, when he goes to post for the feature Stakes & Lower Handicap over 1,600 metres on the Turf at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.
However, Luis Rodriguez who is booked to ride Champagne On Deck has also been booked to partner the champion turf horse of 2008, Funky Like Ah Train for trainer Harriram Gobin.
But Funky LikeAh Train will only race on the turf and with rain expected, the race could be shifted from the grass surface. Others in the line up for the $42,000 first prize cheque include Saint Pegasus which ran a big race behind Raging Halo earlier in the season.
The powerful Glenn Mendez Stables will be represented by Windjammer which was a winner last time out. When entries were taken yesterday for the seven-card a total of 87 horses took entry for the Arima Race Clubs (ARC) Day 26 programme. Post time for the first event is 1.10 pm.
