Super Industrial Services Limited was one of several contractors who participated in the "Clean up and Beautify T&T" exercise last Sunday.
The company placed a lot of emphasis in cleaning up playing fields and from as early as 7 am, SIS mobilised a fleet of trucks and backhoes as they deployed into areas in Couva and environs including Balmain, Esperanza, Phoenix Park and Milton Carolina in a combined effort with the constituency of Couva and Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh.
Senior public relations officer at SIS, Jimmy Hosein, in addressing the volunteers on Sunday explained that the exercise was SIS's response to the call by Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar to clean and beautify T&T, an initiative that he hopes would be an ongoing process.
"As a corporate citizen, SIS has a duty not only to perform but also to serve our community, which we have been doing and will continue to do so," Hosein said. "But this must be a joint effort by the citizens and government of Trinidad and Tobago."
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar and the Honourable Minster of Works and Transport Jack Austin Warner also made an appearance at the day's proceedings addressing the volunteers and even took part in the beautification drive at Isaac Settlement by planting a tree.
SIS took a keen interest in the upliftment of sporting facilities because they have been assisting the national community through sports. Earlier this year, they hosted a cricket tournament for companies in the Industrial Estate and this will be followed by a football series to be launched soon.
They have also been active in assisting many local sporting clubs, as was seen by their sponsorship of the Central Sports cricket team and their association with the Daren Ganga Foundation.
