Harvard Club claimed an entertaining 53-33 away win over Rainbow Sports and Cultural Club at the Marabella Recreation Ground, Marabella yesterday to finish third in the T&T Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) Toyota Championship division league competition.
Harvard led 17-0 at half time but on the resumption had to withstand a determined Rainbow fight back? that saw the home team lead at various times 19-17, 26-22 and 33-29. However Harvard piled on the pressure?in the final 10 minutes scoring four tries and two conversions to seal their first ever top three finish in the Championship division. Rainbow held the third place position in the Championship the previous two seasons.?
Harvard endured some?anxious?pre game moments? as they were forced to leave out from their starting 15 injured trio Rowell Gordon, Aasan Lewis and John Hill. Also missing was national Under-19 stand out Joseph Quashie following a red card two Saturdays ago.?However just before kick off Harvard captain Wayne Kelly was declared fit following a fitness test as was second row forward Ebo Jones and Jerome O'Brien.
