The North Zone topped group B with an ex­cit­ing draw against East in round three of the BG T&T In­ter­zone Un­der-19 crick­et com­pe­ti­tion, fol­low­ing strong per­for­mances from Fa­ti­ma stu­dents Jean-Paul Rocke and Dono­van Clay­ton.

Bat­ting first at St Mary's Ground, Rocke scored 79 to guide North to 189. Clay­ton pitched in with 25, while Stephon Ram­di­al (3/47) and Joey Samuel (3/35) both grabbed three wick­ets for East. In re­ply, East seemed to be cruis­ing to first in­nings points get­ting to 104 with­out loss with na­tion­al youth play­ers Kee­gan Sim­mons and Shaquille Mc­David at the crease.

How­ev­er, East lost a flur­ry of wick­ets as it was bowled out for 188, giv­ing North a one run lead on first in­nings. Sim­mons top scored with 80 and Mc­David con­tributed 52. Clay­ton and Jonathan Bootan both snatched five-wick­et hauls, tak­ing 5/48 and 5/81 re­spec­tive­ly.

In the sec­ond in­nings North post­ed 205 be­hind 47 from Bran­don Ma­haraj. Ram­di­al was the chief de­stroy­er with 5/44, end­ing the match with eight wick­ets. Both teams ad­vanced to the semi­fi­nal round.

At Hap­py Hill in a group A en­counter, Sai­ba Ba­toos­ingh and Jyd Goolie con­tin­ued their ex­cel­lent form. South post­ed 277, bat­ting first af­ter Goolie cracked 159. An­der­son Phillip (3/40) and Ba­toos­ingh (3/56) both grabbed three wick­ets for Cen­tral. In re­ply, Cen­tral scored 250 af­ter Ba­toos­ingh struck 128 and Su­veer Ram­sook pitched in with 56. Ca­fu Chin Sue (3/41), Goolie (3/65) and Jabari Mills (3/56) were all among the wick­ets for South.

In the sec­ond in­nings the match was called off when South got to 106/6. The group A qual­i­fiers have not been con­firmed as the first round match be­tween Cen­tral and South West has not been com­plet­ed.
