Machel, Swappi send South folk crazy

Mr Fete again showed why he is hailed by many as the King of Soca around the world with an ecstatic performance on the morning of January 15, in San Fernando. In a packed crowd at Illusion's Black to Blue Breakfast Cooler Party at Twin Walls, La Romaine, Machel Montano sent partyholics crazy with vibrant and energetic performances. Using connotative language, MM declared his supremacy over his closest rival at last year's Power Soca Monarch competition, hinting that that artiste's style was limited. Even before Machel arrived at the venue, the mere utterance of his name had patrons chanting.

"Machel, Machel!" As he made his entrance onto the stage shortly after 3 am, the blistering sound of women screaming erupted like a volcano. Machel's first tune- We Reveling-sent the crowd wild, with some jumping on coolers, climbing fences and running through the party arena. Causing an even more festive time, the energetic wining performer belted out Mr Fete and had women rotating their waistlines. Boasting of his fitness, Machel removed his T-shirt and engaged in a heated wining session with a member of the audience, while standing on a line of speaker boxes. After his hour-long performance, fans kept calling out for more.

Also keeping the crowd excited, Swappi and his duo of mind-boggling dancers added heat to the show with some sensual dances. Performing his 2012 hit single, Bubble on a DJ, some patrons were even seen wining on the speaker boxes. Swappi also had a few specialties in the bag and the crowds roared in excitement when he performed Nah Go Play and danced along with his full-figured dancer. Swappi's performance and dances, especially to his song Come and Blow My Flute, showed he was ready to rumble with the big guns in the soca industry. The concept of the event Black to Blue refers to patrons partying from the black of the night into the blue of the morning. Breakfast was served at 4 am. However, at 7 am, many patrons were still reluctant to end the fun.
