Congratulations are in order for Candel Cuffie for making the accounting fraternity and indeed all of T&T proud on her remarkable achievement of placing first in the world in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants examinations. Her achievement is mind-boggling when it is realised that 424,000 students from 170 countries sat this highly accredited examination.
Ever since her trailblazing academic exploits at this country's first Pentecostal high school-Miracle Ministries' Pentecostal High-where she copped the coveted Most Outstanding Academic Overall Student Award in 2006, this young woman's achievements continue to motivate and inspire her peers and all youths alike to excel in their chosen fields.
Extraordinarily, too, Candel's sisters, Sherose, Winsie-ann and Victrina, were not outdone and have all achieved excellent grades in academics and extra-curricular activities. It is noteworthy that despite the school having only opened its doors in 2001, and as such being a relatively new school, it is pacing itself alongside long-established educational institutions and colleges and is gradually emerging as one of the prestige high schools in the country.
As we continue to celebrate and marvel at Candel's scholarly achievement, it is obvious to all that her successes and that of her siblings were honed by her father, Rev Winston Cuffie, founder of Miracle Ministries International and the country's first Pentecostal minister to be honoured, in 2011, with the Chaconia Gold-for outstanding, visionary and indelible contributions to education and community service to this country. Take a bow, Candel, as all of T&T salutes you in your moment of glory.
