During the state of emergency and curfew in Trinidad and Tobago, there will be no lifeguards on beaches across the country after 5 pm. The Ministry of Tourism has adjusted the working hours of lifeguards to ensure s the safety of beachgoers and the lifeguards themselves.
Lifeguards, who pick up duty at 10 am, will stop patrolling the beach at 4.30 pm and leave at 5 pm. These arrangements will apply for beaches under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Tourism in Trinidad: Mayaro, Manzanilla, Salybia, Maracas, Tyrico, Las Cuevas, Los Iros, Vessigny and Quinam. The Tobago House of Assembly is responsible for beaches in Tobago.
